You'll find grocery stores, gas stations, cafes, restaurants, and local boutiques all within a short drive or walk. Grab a coffee at one of the local cafes, browse the shops downtown, or pick up supplies for your next campfire dinner. There are also banks, a pharmacy, a hospital, and other essential services — so even though you're in the mountains, you're never far from what you need.
Hinton is about a 3-hour drive from Edmonton and 5 hours from Calgary, making it an easy weekend getaway. You can also reach Hinton by VIA Rail train for a scenic journey through the Rockies.

Everything you need to know about staying at Hinton Centre Campground.
We're just 2 minutes off the highway! Turn off Highway 16 at Starbucks onto Switzer Drive. Follow the road past the hospital and down the hill — we're at the bottom of the hill on the right.
There is a self-registration booth at the campground entrance where you can either scan the QR code and pay online with a card, or complete a paper registration and pay with cash. There are no gates, so campers can come and go at any time.
Washroom access after hours: The washrooms require a passcode between 7:00 PM and 9:00 AM. If you booked online, you'll receive the codes in your confirmation email. If you paid with cash at the self-registration booth, please contact management at 780-315-9196 for the codes.
Each campsite comes with a fire pit and a picnic table. Complimentary firewood is available for campers — just help yourself!
Please note: This is a no-hookup campground. There are no power, water, or sewer connections at individual sites.
Our washroom building has hot showers, flush toilets, and potable water. Washrooms are open during the day and require keypad passcode entry between 7:00 PM and 9:00 AM. Codes are provided in your booking confirmation email or by contacting management.
Yes! There is a cook shack available for campers to use for meal preparation.
Yes, there is a playground on site for children to enjoy.
The sani dump and potable water fill station for campers is located in front of the People Centre building, just west of the campground entrance in the same turn-off from Switzer Drive.
Pets are welcome but must be kept under control at all times. Dogs must be leashed outside of your campsite and owners must clean up after their pets.
Please be aware that the campground is located near a train line and a road. You may hear noise from trains and passing traffic, particularly at night. Light sleepers may want to bring earplugs.
